babies first foods

Babies first finger foods?
What did you give your LO as thier first finger food. I am worried about him choking. How big were the pieces? How can you tell if he is ready? My guy tries to put everything in his mouth, at 6 months we tried giving him a mum mum and he bit half of it off and started gagging/choking. Now at 7 months we are sooo nervous about self feeding.
I give tiny tiny hunks of avocado.
They are so soft, even if she swallowed a chunk whole, she wouldn’t choke.
When I give her finger foods, she gets a hunk the size of a pencil eraser.
She is only 9 months old though and has no teeth.
Just start very slow and very small.
Give him one small piece at a time until you can make sure he can control himself when it comes to feeding himself.
Try the avocado, some sweet potato or butternut squash.
Those are all good.
