premature babies 37 weeks
Can having a baby at 37 weeks affect their mental development?
I had my daughter at exactly 37 weeks.The doctors said it was fine, since it is not considered premature, but now she is 2 years old and has a problem with speech development! I take her to speech therapy twice a week and she is improving but could the time that I had her have affected her development? Im just wondering?
Most likely no, her being born 3 weeks early has not caused her trouble with speech development. Children learn at all different ages. It can take some time for children to learn to make speech sounds. with practice and patience she should be ok. You can ask your county to have her checked for developmental evaluation. But since you are already getting speech. It seem that you are on top of your child’s education. Children at the age of 2 will quickly grow and develop physical, emotionally and cognitively. Give her time.
