Goobs Update January 13, 2006

Well we are trying our best to keep our New Years' resolution by updating the news more often. The holidays are finally over. Overall they went smoothly. The hardest thing was getting our shopping done in between Graces' two and her feeding schedule. We cannot wait until she decides she no longer needs the morning nap. Somehow we got all the shopping done just in time to have an early Christmas with Gery, Tracey and the boys and then leave for Minneapolis.

It was very nice to have no work or housework schedule for 6 days. We were responsible for Grace, ourselves and helping our gracious hosts Boots and Marcia (a.k.a. Mima and Grandpa Boots) a bit now and again. Grandpa Boots helped prep for Grace's arrival by building a nice gate for the head of the stairs. He even applied ownership to it by labeling it "Graces' Gate". Christmas Eve was spent opening gifts for the "adults" and Grace opened hers on Christmas Day. Grace really got into the spirit and opened most of her presents with very little help. She scored again and loves all of her new toys and clothes. Some highlights were her new wooden fruit and vegetable cutting kit, Ducky pull toy, Puppy pull toy, Black Lab puppy stuffed animal, several art drawing pads and many books. Thanks to all.

Christmas Day was spent prepping for Mimas' family. A large, delicious meal was served and fun was had by all. Uncle Ron brought Lutefisk and Grace not only had some she wanted more. The scary thing is she also had pickled Herring during the trip and again she wanted more of it. She is of true Norwegian blood. Grandpa Kelbe will be so proud. Grace had fun with everyone before going to bed and it was wonderful for her to be around her Minnesota family.

Life returned to normal after X-mas was over and it was hard returning to work and not seeing Grace at all hours of the day. Nate aptly put it "This sucks" when calling home and talking to Paige and Grace on his first day back. New Years' Eve was spent at Jonny and Cheryl's' home with Marc and Steffani and Susan. Being dorky parents of toddlers everyone was home and in bed well before midnight. Dick Clark was not missed and when Grace is old enough to want to stay up late we will probably put our clocks two hours ahead and watch the ball drop on New York time. Thanks for the idea Tracey and Gery.

Paige turned 35 on January ninth and Mima and Grandpa Boots were in town due to the passing of Gerys' Mother Carol on Monday the 2nd of January. Even though distant family The English family felt like blood for both Paige and I. Carol was a fun individual and wonderful to be around. Paige was labeled and "Honorary Sibling" by both Carol and her Husband Gery. Her presence will be greatly missed by all. Our thoughts go out to all her family and friends.
