How to install a ceiling fan with out existing wiring?

I am looking to install a ceiling fan in my living room. There is no existing wiring for the ceiling fan. I am installing it from scratch. Any help would be great. Thanks.

You need to have power to the ceiling. A handyman can do it, but it costs.

Another, less expensive alternative is to buy a “swag” kit at any hardware store. It converts the hard wiring to a plug-in type. Convert the fan, install a molly bolt in the ceiling where you want the fan, and swag the cord down to an electrical sock.
