Getting my Baby to Bottle feed?

Hi,

My baby is 13 months old. I am breast feeding my baby everyday. She is not getting enough milk and still feeling hungry and I want to stop breast feeding(because I feel like loosing my energy)

Problem: I tried bottle feed my baby and she is not accepting it. I have been trying this since 1month.. everytime she is crying everytime I try this… How make her accept bottle??

I have tried whole milk, organic milk.. formula milk…

Do I need to special kind of pacifier? which feel like moms nipple?

Please help me… Please give me suggestions?

Thanks

If she’s over a year old, she doesn’t need a bottle. Switch her from nursing straight onto a regular cup or sippy cup. Often it’s easier for babies who are nursed to go straight to a cup.

I would suggest that you start to ween her from nursing, if it’s making you uncomfortable. Make sure she’s getting a wide variety of foods from all the food groups.

Since she’s over a year you don’t have to put her on formula, it’s too expensive and just not necessary as she’s now old enough to digest whole milk.

Try to feed her a good meal and if she wants to nurse, nurse her after she’s had her solids.

If you try to stop nursing cold turkey, you could get mastitis, which can make you really sick and lead to breast abcesses. So slowly reduce the time you spend nursing her. Offer her a sippy cup (or regular cup) with some warm-ish whole milk in it. Some people say you can sweeten the milk (because breast milk is sweet) and slowly decrease the ammount of sweetener in it.

Good luck!
