babies wearing helmets

Did your baby have to wear a helmet to correct a flat spot – Plagiocephaly?
If so, what were your experiences? How bad was your baby’s flat spot? I’m just curious because my son has a flat spot on the back of his head and repositioning is not working (he fights it). We try to keep him off the back of his head as much as humanly possible, but he goes to the babysitters during the day and she can only do so much with two other babies to take care of. I think the problem may be getting worse. We go to the doctor soon, so we’ll see what he says.
My son is almost 3.5 months and cannot roll over yet. On his tummy he’ll bring his legs in with his butt in the air, but cannot coordinate the arm movements necessary to roll over. Please also feel free to knock some sense into me if I’m just being a typical overly paranoid mother.
My daughter got a flat and bald spot on the back of her head when she was an infant. My doctor basically said to wait and see and that it wasn’t that bad. After she was able to sit up on her own (around 5 months) it started to get better, and once she was rolling over on her own and crawling and other things it dramatically improved. I think they only really worry about them if the head is very deformed from it, and tend to worry more if it’s on the side rather than the back. At 3.5 months your son is pretty young – unless it’s really severe they will probably wait and see if it improves.
