babies born at 25 weeks pregnant
What are the chances of babies being born early?

Im only 17 weeks pregnant so I know that its way early. But my cousins girlfriend had her baby at 32 weeks and I read one column on here and someone had their baby at 25 weeks.. I’m 5’0″ tall weighed 98 before i got pregnant. Everyone keeps telling me that my baby will probably be early since I am so small and it’s my first pregnancy. What are your takes on that? I’m due January 6th, 2009 so obviously I have a ways to go I was just curious. Thanks in advance for your answers!

This is something that it’s best not to worry about (unless your doctor tells you there is a complication that should cause you to worry). I am one of those people that delivered at 25 weeks, but there were a LOT of complications (which we knew about in advance) and a very clear reason why this happened. Unless there are complications with your pregnancy, it is VERY unlikely that you will deliver very early (remember, 37 weeks is considered full term, so that doesn’t count as “early”). Also, keep in mind that modern medicine makes it possible for babies born very early to survive and live healthy lives. It’s a good idea to learn the signs of preterm labor and watch for them, but don’t lose sleep over the possibiltiy unless you are given a reason!
