babies eye contact

babies eye contact
Why does my 5 month old baby avoid eye contact?

My son avoids eye contact. He particularly avoids it when I’m holding him out in front of me. He doesn’t interact with his twin brother either because he is afraid to make eye contact with him too.
Other than his lack of eye contact he seems to be developing typically. He is social, smiles, coos, giggles, follows moving objects..etc.

Please help me because I starting to freak out with concern. Thanks.

Hello – My six month old did the exact same thing a month ago for a few weeks. It started to terrify me so much that I checked into autism. I figured it out though – (after long nights of research, watching him like a hawk for hours, talking to doctors and other moms) – He was on to better and more interesting things. He found everything but me (or the person holding him) more interesting. Seriously, we were old news. There was always something else more exciting to look at. Within the past week or two, he has started to make eye contact again, but in a different way. Now, he has started to really study our faces and just stare at us. It’s pretty neat. But, there were a few weeks (about three or four there) where I was terrified and scared, just like you. And, he was the same age your little man is. I hope that this has helped. You’re a good mom for noticing this! Maybe he is more introspective then his brother too. Our little guy seems to really be.
